An update from Luis...

Well, here we go. I’m writing my first blog. Why? I have a lot to say. That, and my website guy, told me it’s a good idea. So I thought I’d start my blog career with an update on my family, our club and me as we ride out the last months (hopefully) of this pandemic.

First, we are all healthy and happy and ready for summer. We took the stay-at-home order very seriously. My dad, Francisco, is approaching 76 years young and we didn’t want to take any chances. We still had to work the horses, and we still needed our dedicated grooms to help us. Believe it or not, social distancing is pretty easy at the Santa Clara Polo Club with close to 50 acres of space. We checked everyone’s temperature regularly and am happy to say, none of the Santa Clara Polo Club staff fell ill and no one had any symptoms.

Second, I am proud to report my son, Nico, is playing USPA tournaments at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racket Club in the America’s Cup, Silver Cup and the Pacific Coast Open with Luchesse Polo team; John Muse, Jeff Hall, Facundo Obregon and Nico Escobar. Nico will be aiming to win his second America's Cup and Pacific Coast Open. He first won them at age of 17 with Farmers and Merchants Bank with teammates Danny Walker, Lucas Criado and Felipe Varccelino.

Finally, my dad, Lucas and I are still looking at opportunities of either staying at Santa Clara Polo Club for the summer, or traveling to play.

I don't know about you, but I found this pandemic eye opening. We have been living in a fast paced environment for so long now, it really gave me a chance to reevaluate priorities. I will never take my health or the health of my loved ones for granted again. And I will slow down, and enjoy time with my top priority...my family.

Stay Safe!

Luis
